Abbreviation
BuPP
Funding organisation

Purpose
To provide parents, guardians and others involved in children's upbringing with guidance on the selection of computer games.
Status quo
- Computer and console games have become a mainstream leisure activity for children and teenagers. Lets face it, gaming is fun.
- Approached in the right way, many computer games can also help develop young people's abilities and skills.
- But given the large number of games appearing each year, it is hard to keep track of what is on offer.
Approach
- BuPP publishes and constantly updates a list of recommended games.
- In BuPP's view well designed games are ones that are fun to play but also maximise the potential benefits of this form of activity.
- BuPP recommendations rest on:
- Expert reviewers;
- Transparent criteria; and
- A rigorous rating process.
- This process ensures that decisions are not taken on the basis of one person's opinion but of expert discussion.
